Restorative Practice

At St Andrew the Apostle Catholic Primary School, we aim to create a culture of positive relationships between our pupils and staff in school. To achieve this we underpin our Behaviour and Relationships policy with the use of Restorative Practice. This enables us to focus on repairing harm and building relationships following an incident rather than short term punitive measures or consequences. Our pupils work collaboratively, supported by members of staff to identify:

  • what has happened
  • how it impacted others
  • how it can be avoided in future

This allows us to repair any harm that has occurred and find a way to move forward with our school day. This year we have introduced Restorative Practice Peer Mentors as part of our Pupil Leadership team (PLT). These pupils will be trained to hold restorative chats and model good practice for pupils around the school.
